Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The dark ruby/purple-hued 2006 Cabernet Franc boasts abundant quantities of sweet blueberry and black raspberry aromas interwoven with subtle hints of bay leaf, licorice, and flowers. Full-bodied and supple-textured with delicious, deep, ripe fruit nicely balanced by adequate acidity, this is a substantial, yet paradoxically, an ethereal tasting wine to drink over the next 12+ years." 93 Points - Robert Parker
WINEMAKER:
"Just to recap, Sean's career began in the wholesale business, before electing to start broking wines himself from boutique wineries and finally taking the next logical step, producing his own wine in 1999 aided by Bob Foley. He currently produces two wines, the Cabernet Franc (blended with Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon) and a few barrels of Cabernet Sauvignon itself. Grapes are sourced from selected vineyards in Yountville, Oakville, St. Helena, Pritchard Hill, and Calistoga."
"I chatted to Sean at the recent Californian Wine Fair in London. For some reason he looks more like an Antipodean than an American, although he turns out to be of Scottish descent. He is typically garrulous, effusive about his Cabernet Franc which seems to be his "pet cuvée", like myself an ardently believer that its inherent qualities."
"What intrigues me is how wines such as Larkin's Cabernet Franc and Le Dôme will age with time. Personally, I think they have great potential in the hands of a skilled winemaker and they will become imbued with the qualities that make mature vintages of Cheval Blanc such a wonder to behold. I cannot wait to find out." -Neal Martin - The Wine Advocate
ESTATE:
"Since 1999, Larkin's been producing intense Napa Valley Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon & Merlot. Sean Larkin's the tippling franc savant & mind behind. What began as a labor of love with 50 cases of Napa Valley Cabernet Franc in 1999, has grown into nearly 500 cases of what critic Robert M. Parkers describes as "Always one of the finest Napa Cabernet Francs made." Founded by Sean Larkin, a devout and unapologetic hedonist and raconteur, the Larkin brand now extends into serious Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. -Winery
