Plum and blackberry notes have a touch of smoke and mocha notes, which mellow on the taut palate. This shows lovely tension between ample fruit and taut freshness, with fine tannins giving a pleasant gauze-like structure. There is warmth and power but both are well contained and held on a tight leash. This shows that well-toned muscle takes you further than mere weight. Drink 2020–2030.

92 Falstaff Magazine

Deep dark ruby garnet, opaque core, violet reflexes, delicate brightening. Smoky herbs and spices, black berries, fresh dark cherries, slightly reductive, orange zest. Juicy, lively fresh red cherries, fine tannins, mineral-salty nuances, sticks well, an exciting food companion.

Product Description:

"In 2015, this is a blend from the Hackelsberg, Gritschenberg and Schmalister vineyards. The grapes were hand harvested in the middle of October, destemmed, mashed and fermented in stainless steel. After malolactic, the wine was moved and aged in 1600L wooden casks for twenty-two months. This wine is brambly, juicy and shows its limestone soil with a mineral cut. Only 2800 bottles were produced." -- Importer
