"The 2012 Barbera d'Asti Superiore Nizza has retained remarkable freshness for such a big wine. Exotic and flamboyant to the core, the 2012 races across the palate with notable intensity. Red cherry jam, pomegranate, spice, white pepper and blood orange meld together in an intense, structured Barbera that will deliver considerable pleasure in the coming years.
Olim Bauda continues to make deep, fleshy Barberas of real character. Readers who want to understand what contemporary Barbera from Asti is all about should check out these wines. Olim Bauda remains one of the real under the radar gems in Piedmont."
Product Description:
"The “Nizza” vineyard is located in Incisa
Scapaccino at the Estate. Its yield is less then 49 Hl per
hectare.
Grapes from the Nizza vineyard are
selected by hand between the first and second week
of October; that same evening they are squeezed and
poured into stainless steel vats and left to undergo
alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature.
After the first fermentation is completed, juice is
poured into French oak barrels and left
there for aging for 30 months."-Winery
