Domaine Roulot is among the world’s most famous wine producers hailing from the village of Meursault in the Cote D’or. Guy Roulot is the generation that brought the winery to international fame, having just transitioned from distilling to vinifying them. The name Roulot is synonymous with being the master of the lieu dit, preferring to bottle the parcels individually. Guy’s death in 1982 dampered the family’s spirit for some time; Jean-Marc Roulot, his son, moved home from Paris, having pursued his acting career. He took control of the winery in 1989, a pivoting moment for its continued reputation. Having paved the way for single vineyard wines, other producers in the region followed suit. Furthermore, the Roulot wines set themselves apart as being lean and lively while other producers were after a rich, weighty style. The Roulot wines age well and lend themselves to food of many styles.
