"The Lieu Dit project comes from the inspiration of the wines being made in the Loire Valley. The concept was created by Eric Railsback of Rn74 and Justin Willett of Tyler Winery to focus on the Loire Valley varietals that are planted in the Beautiful terroir of Santa Barbara County. By incorporating the wine making techniques used in France they believe the terroir and natural purity of fruit in California will come out in the wines. They are constantly in search of purity, elegance and balance.
The two vineyards they work with come from the Happy Canyon portion of the Santa Ynez Valley. The vineyards are Star Lane, and just to the west Three Creek vineyard. The fruit was fermented in two different ways: through whole-cluster and partial-whole-cluster fermentation and through carbonic maceration. The whole-cluster fermentation yields bright fruit and savory qualities while the carbonic fermentation maintains a consistent freshness." -Winery
