2005 Meroi Ros Di BuriMerlot from Italy

List Price: $66.98 - You're saving $16.00!

"The Merlot Ros di Buri is the second selection of wine that is not chosen for the top of the line Dominim bottling. The 2005 is a beautifully balanced, seamless red loaded with sweet opulent fruit, grilled herbs, roasted coffee beans, plums and smoke. It possesses terrific depth as well as an inviting, luxurious texture. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2012." -91 points- Antonio Galloni- Wine Advocate

"The vineyards are between 10 to 40 years old. Harvest is collected in boxes, fermentation is done in steel tanks, with maceration of about 2 weeks. Malolactic fermentation in barrels and the wine is kept in the barrels for 15 months in 50% new French oak. The cultivation techniques are completely organic, without any use of pesticides and herbicides. Ruby color, berry fruit and spicy notes. Creamy and full in the mouth stretches long and persistently, with sweet tannin typical of Buttrio." -Winery

"The Meroi family owns 35 hectares of fine, old vineyards in the Colli Orientali del Friuli D.O.C., which has been compared to the Cote de Beaune of Burgundy for its ability to produce world class white wines. The output of this estate is - understandably - extremely limited, with only a handful of cases making it into the New York market. All Meroi wines show a combination of complexity and structure, and are known to have remarkable aging potential." -Importer
