"Not ready now, or anytime soon, because it's locked down in astringent tannins. Yet it's very rich and dense in black currants, black cherries and unsweetened dark chocolate, and its integrity shines through the finish. Hold off until after 2011, and could develop far beyond in a good cellar." -92 points Wine Enthusiast

A Cellar Tracker Smash Hit!

As of today, this wine has an average of 90.2 pts. and a median of 91 pts. in 6 notes.

"this compares well to other $100 bottles" - pdrago notes on CT

In fact, it looks like one of our regular posters here on Cinderellawine.com had a chance to taste this back on 06/02/2009 and raved with a 94 Point score (we are guessing here based on the username of course ... but was that in fact you @WineKnurd???)!!

"Like the previous reviewer said its tough to consider $65 a value but I also agree that this competes with your $100+ Silver Oaks, Stags Leaps and Cakebreads. Save the $35 and buy the White Cottage." -Wineknurd notes on CT

More about this wine...

"We are extremely excited and proud to be releasing this vintage of our premium Howell Mtn. Cabernet Sauvignon. It is the first to have been vinted and bottled in our new winery in 2005. With the entire production on-site, we have been able to put even more detail into hand-crafting this wine. The fruit came from specially chosen blocks of the vineyard and took over 18 different 'pickings' to ensure the peak of ripeness. 15 months in French oak have finished it off beautifully. We feel this is possibly one of the best Cabernets Dennis has made."

"Rose petal is the first aroma of this wine, leading into rich mocha and black pepper spice. On the palate, deep fruit flavors of blackberry finish with toasted honey oats. It also has the iconic characteristics of the minerality that comes from Howell Mtn. soil. Robust and well balanced, this wine is beautiful out of the bottle now and will gain even more complexity over the next few years. We encourage you to enjoy it quietly in your most cozy easy-chair or in celebration with family and friends. Cheers!" -Winery
