88David Schildknecht - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"Bernard Baudry's cement tank-raised 2008 Chinon Les Granges - from sand and gravel riverside sites - smells and tastes of red currant and beets, with undertones of salted beef stock and toasted nuts. This unusually bright, relatively light (12% alcohol) yet decidedly carnal as well as tart-berried Chinon represents a highly distinctive approach to a challenging vintage. Some tasters may find it too white wine-like. I find it invigorating and its long, saline, meaty, brightly-fruited finish promises a year’s worth of interesting appearances at table."
