2021 Burn Cottage Pinot Noir Sauvage Vineyard Central Otago Pinot Noir from New Zealand
#152736 750 mL
2021 Burn Cottage Pinot Noir Sauvage Vineyard Central Otago
97 Erin Larkin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2021 Sauvage Vineyard Pinot Noir is supremely pretty. It's elegant and fine and still powerful, thanks to the Bannockburn area; however, the wine itself shows rose petals and spring flowers, graphite and pencil lead, white pepper and tapenade. Svelte and sleek, this is composed and detailed and so, so good. I am (mostly) resisting hyperbole and adverbs here. This is a standout wine from a superstar producer—an asset for the region and indeed the country (and the New World in general). 13.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.
96 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Juicy and lively strawberries, red plums and lavender followed by vanilla beans, salted caramel and a touch of squeezed orange wedge. Mineral. Medium-bodied wine with fine velvety tannins and acidity. Very precisely framed wine with great harmony. It’s beautiful already but will age gracefully. Drink or hold.
95 Wine Spectator
Well-structured, with a firm backbone to complement the dense core of flavors, including blackberry, wild blueberry and red fruit notes. Accents of Earl Grey tea and white pepper, plus hints of dried rose petal, forest floor and salted black licorice, linger on the long, expressive finish. Drink now through 2033. 750 cases made, 200 cases imported.

Camphor, rose, dark spice and forest berry aromas propel out of the glass on the intensely fragrant 2021 Rocche dell'Annunziata from Francesco Rinaldi. Showing pedigree and extreme elegance, the full-bodied, delicious palate boasts a weightless finesse, delivering layers of ripe Marasca cherry, crushed raspberry, dried mint and star anise accompanied by present but refined tannins. A wonderful expression of this celebrated MGA in La Mora, it's well balanced, with bright acidity. What a beauty. Drink 2031–2046

Guava and papaya, lemongrass, and a squeeze of salted lime deliver a complex of palate stimulating and delicious flavor. Persistent, mouthwatering acidity carries a silken mouthfeel through a distinctive and refined Sauvignon Blanc. This wine is enjoyable now but will also continue to gain complexity in the bottle if held in cellar. Enjoy!

"Based on the 2020 vintage and disgorged in December 2022, the latest rendition of Sélèque's NV Extra Brut Solessence reveals aromas of white flowers, ripe citrus fruit, peach and almond paste. Medium-bodied, ample and pillowy, it's chalky and precise, with a bright spine of acidity and a pure, mineral finish. It's a terrific introduction to the domaine's range."

90 Luis Gutierrez - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The red 2022 Rafael Tinto has notes of tomato vine, sweet spices and berry jam. Produced with a blend of 40% Alicante Bouschet, 30% Aragonez, 20% Trincadeira and 10% Castelão, it was foot trodden in lagar, went through malolactic and had one year of élevage in 5,000-liter oak vats and used French barriques. It comes in at 14% alcohol and is fruit-driven, with a juicy and chewy palate and abundant tannins. It is bright and chewy.

2021 Paradigm Cabernet Sauvignon
97 Decanter
This blend of 91% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot was fermented in stainless steel with a small percentage of whole berries included. Winemaker Mark Fasi explains that pressing off the wine before it goes dry helps to soften the tannins. The wine is then aged 18–20 months in approximately 50% new French oak. The Paradigm Cabernet Sauvignons are medium-bodied and exude utmost elegance, showcasing soaring tannins that are assertive yet beautifully integrated and framed by crisp, juicy acidity. The palate reveals pure and gorgeous red berry fruit, complemented by a panoply of brown spices, wild herbs like sage, and floral notes of lilacs and violets. This wine is absolutely pure, brimming with energy and tension, and delivers a stunningly refined expression. A remarkable effort, embodying balance, vitality, and sophistication. Truly impressive. The winemaker is legendary Napa icon Heidi Barrett. Mark Fasi, who joined the winery in 2010 and has worked hand-in-hand with Barrett, takes the helm as winemaker with the 2023 vintage.

2018 Le Carillon De L'angelus
95 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
Wild-strawberry, blackberry and blueberry aromas with some spices and herbs. It’s full-bodied with a balance of firm yet elegant tannins. The savory mid-palate leads to a clean finale with serious length. Hard not to drink this now, but it needs four or five years to show its true excellence. Second wine of Angelus. Try after 2025.
94 Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux
An excellent vintage at this St Emilion First Growth, but the main wine is nowhere near ready to approach. I suggest looking instead at the second wine, Le Carillon d'Angélus. Expect stewed spiced plums, raspbery and black cherry fleshy fruits, and a ton of smoked earth, liqourice and slate. Still young at three years old, this will deliver already with a good few hours in a carafe but there is no rush to open. 50% new oak. The first vintage that includes the newly-expanded vineyard footprint, with plots in St Christophe de Bardes and a large area near Cheval Blanc and Figeac.
93 Jeb Dunnuck - jebdunnuck.com
I loved the 2018 Carillon D'Angélus. This Merlot-dominated blend (there's 15% Cabernet Franc) offers a healthy ruby/purple color as well as a complex, smoky bouquet of ripe black fruits, graphite, tobacco, and a kiss of earth. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and beautifully balanced, it has a sexy, seamless texture, polished tannins, and the class to drink nicely for 15 years or more.

2007 Bruno Giacosa Barbaresco Asili Riserva Red Label
98 Antonio Galloni - Vinous
Giacosa’s 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is flamboyant, exotically ripe and stunning in its absolute beauty. Bright red cherry fruit, rose petal, violet and mint abound in a spellbinding, utterly thrilling Barbaresco. I have always adored the 2007. Once again, it is pure magic.
98 James Suckling - Jamessuckling.com
This will be in the market in 2012. This is full and rich with irresistible silky tannins. This brings more substance and richness than the white label. Lay this down until 2016. 10,000 bottles
97 Antonio Galloni - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2007 Barbaresco Riserva Asili is sweet, perfumed and totally gorgeous in its round, sensual fruit. Silky, elegant tannins frame the long, harmonious finish. Stylistically the 2007 is most similar to the 2004, although it seems to have more exuberant, opulent fruit. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2037."

92 Monica Larner - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2024 Collio Pinot Grigio from Livio Felluga shows a delicate pink, onion-skin hue from a brief four- to six-hour maceration. Sourced from five parcels across Rosazzo and Cormons, the wine balances ripe and candied fruit—apricot and redcurrant—with saline, iodine and lightly metallic mineral notes. Partial malolactic fermentation and lees aging add a subtle creaminess, while the palate remains fresh, firm and finely structured with a touch of herbal complexity and a clean, mineral finish."
91 Aldo Fiordelli - Senior Editor - JamesSuckling.com
"A fairly neutral yet focused wine with delicate aromas of fresh pears, beeswax, flowers. spices and pepper. Light- to medium-bodied, very silky, refined and savory, with Mirabelle plum flavors and a tight savory finish with a touch of bitterness. Drink now."
