"The Haut Barrail 2009 has a very fine bouquet with cedar, black fruits, a touch of Xmas cake and sous-bois with good definition. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, good acidity and a very composed finish with ample freshness. This is a very well made 2009 Cru Bourgeois." (09/11)

WINE:
"The vineyard extends over 6 hectares. The wines grow on gentle hillsides facing the Gironde, with good natural drainage and are constituted of calcerous clay. The grapes grown are 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon." -Winery

WINERY:
"Vineyards of Vieux Chateau Landon and Chateau Haut Barrail are situated in center of Medoc area on the Begadan district. The origins of Vieux Chateau Landon go for back in history, attested by the archives dating back to 1607, carefully preserved to this days. They show that the property belonged to numerous generations of wines growers, being handed down from father to son. This has given it its standing and its quality."

"This ancient, noble estate and its windmill, also located in the town of Begadan, have existed since 1362. The chateau was originally called "Maison de la Bernede". It has since disappeared, but the windmill has survived. The oldest part of the existing windmill goes back to the early 17th century. Everything would seem to indicate that the house currently on the estate also dates from the 18th century. Representations of "Vines and Wheat" are engraved on the building's pediment. Owner since 1987 the family Gillet did a lot of restauration and the first vintage for the Chateau Haut Barrail was 1995." -Winery
