Bright electric crimson color. Licorice pastry and lime leaves aromas and flavors with a light, bone-dry palate and a leafy green finish. In the Old Fashioned cocktail, the effect is elementary as it add a pleasant anise note to the proceedings, a bit of a citrus twang on the finish, and smoothes out any rough edges. Deceptively simple, yet highly effective and quite classic. (tasted on Apr-21-2013)

As one of only two brands of cocktail bitters to survive from pre-prohibition days, Peychauds is used in some of the worlds most classic cocktails like the Manhattan, Old Fashioned, and Whiskey Sour. Made right in New Orleans, its been a legendary favorite since the 1800s.
