Product Description:
A perfect opportunity to stock up on this incredible value that La Rioja Alta is behind!
Stock up on this while it lasts! Great vintage, incredible producer and a flat out amazing score from the Wine Spectator makes this an outrageous buy for value seekers!
The 2009 Aster Ribera del Duero is sourced from two magnificent single vineyards to make a Tempranillo that nailed 92 points from the Wine Spectator!
Owned by one of Spain’s highest scoring icon estates, La Rioja Alta, the 2009 Aster Ribera del Duero is a beautiful tour de force of a wine!
In the 1990s, La Rioja Alta studied and analysed the soil, grapes and weather of many different subzones within Ribera del Duero and, in 1991, selected 2 vineyards sites in Anguix (Burgos). They chose to name this new venture Bodegas Aster after a Spanish flower that blooms at harvest.
Clearly showing the power and majesty of La Rioja Alta, Aster’s French-oak aged Tempranillo boasts "dense yet racy" fruit that is at once "harmonious and lively!" For those of you looking to score a pedigreed estate showing outrageous quality, THIS is your wine! Cheers!
Tasting Notes:
"Deep cherry red with a ruby rim. Very aromatic, it displays aromas of blackberries and red berries over a background of mocha, toffee, cedar, liquorice and toasted notes. Potent and harmonious on the palate, with highly marked sweet tannins. Wide and elegant aftertaste that will improve after storage in the bottle. A classic example of a great wine from Ribera del Duero." - Winery
Vintage Notes:
"2009 was a noteworthy harvest, marked by an excellent sanitary state of the vineyard and an unhurried ripening process. Once the grapes were sugar ripe, they reached superb phenolic ripeness. Favourable weather assisted in choosing the ideal picking date for every plot, based on adequate ripening parameters. The grapes offered good colour, balance in both alcohol content and acidity, as well as high levels of sweet tannins. Expectations are definitely very high and everything points to this harvest joining the exclusive club of "the greatest harvests" in Ribera del Duero. It was officially rated as 'Excellent'." - Winery
More about the winery:
"Aster was built in 2002 with a timeless, elegant appearance. The manor house, open to wine tourism, fits naturally on the premises of the winery which features an outstanding vinification hall, an open plan building which overlooks the vineyard, and a point of visual attraction, several rows of trapdoors from the stainless steel tanks.
This is where the sorting table is set up during the harvest, where all the clusters pass before starting their journey through a winery that is equipped with the latest technology. The barrel ageing cellar can hold up to 4,000 barrels. It is another attraction for visitors.
Currently there are 2,700 French oak barrels in this hall. They are used to age the Aster Finca El Otero and Aster Crianza wines before they are bottled and finish their ageing in the bottle racks." - Winery
