Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2001 Edulis Reserva is 100% Tempranillo aged in French oak for 18 months. Deep garnet-colored, it exhibits an excellent bouquet of cedar, cinnamon, tobacco, pencil lead, and black cherry. Substantial on the palate, this elegant, layered Rioja has a silky texture, concentrated flavors, very good grip, and a lengthy, pure finish. It will drink well for another eight years. " (06/09)
Product Description:
Wine:
"Long oaked wine. 18 months in French oak casks which are 1 or 2 years old and 3 months extra in Allier French oak vats. 15 months in the bottle. Garnet red with ruby glints. Complex, explosive nose of blackberries, spices and tobacco well blended with quality French oak. Intense aromas, fruity. Silky, fleshy, a classic Reserva at its best presented in an innovative way by its fruitness on palate. Elegant, complex flavours and a good structure. Very food-friendly. It demands more elaborated meals, and stronger meats. It pairs with anything that has dried fruits, spices like vanilla, cinnamon, cloves or nutmeg." - Winery
Edulis:
"Named after the Boletus Edulis, (an edible and choice fungus) this project emerges with our idea that a set of local conditions in which a particular wine or family of wines is produced, including soil-type, weather conditions, topography and wine-making savoir-faire provides us with wines full of personality."
"Edulis are straight Tempranillo wines exclusively produced with our own grapes, coming from our own estate of 320 Hectares, in which we apply the best techniques and take special care to grow quality Tempranillo grapes, with a touch of freshness that make us enjoy lively wines." - Winery
