Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2004 Syrah Saralee’s Vineyard was aged in French oak for 18 months and bottled unfined and unfiltered. It exhibits plenty of blackberry, bacon fat, and exotic fruit aromas (a small quantity of Viognier is co-fermented with this cuvee). This lush Syrah is difficult to resist, but if you can keep your hands off of it, it should age well for 5-10 years." 91 Points - Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
WINERY:
"Over the last decade, cool climate Syrah from California has attracted a growing following of wine fans that appreciate the heady aromatics, voluptuous flavors, and ageability of this Rhone varietal. 2006 marks our 13th vintage of Syrah from the famed Saralee's Vineyard in the Russian River Valley."
"Saralee's Vineyard is decidedly cool climate and Russian River. It possesses 13 acres of Syrah featuring a variety of French and Australian clones. Arrowood has been producing Syrah from Saralee's for more than a decade. We love the vibrancy, purity of fruit and incredible structure that defines this wine every vintage."
"True to the Côte Rôtie style of the Rhone Valley, we co-fermented this Syrah with a small amount of Viognier to intensify its color and enhance the exotic, complex aromas of the wine. It was then barrel aged for 17 months in French oak, and, in keeping with our non-interventionist philosophy, it was neither fined nor filtered."
"Inky ruby in color, this Syrah has a bouquet of ripe blackberry fruit, smoked meats, Chinese camphor and violets. On the pallet, fleshy blackberry and plump blueberry flavors lead to tar, roasted meat, cracked pepper, and a suave minerality in the lingering finish. This wine should age well for the next 5-7 years. " -Winery
