"Crystalline straw-green. Very pure aromas and flavors of green apple, mint and coriander. Finishes long and mineral. Precise, vertical wine in typical Weinbach style, but less piercing than some past vintages. In fact, in the hot 2017 vintage, the estate pulled the trigger early, and so the Sylvaner was picked three weeks earlier than in 2016. One of the secrets to Weinbach’s Sylvaner is that they keep yields low thanks to a single-guyot pruning system as opposed to the double guyot used by most everyone else. This will match splendidly with escargot, oysters, asparagus and artichoke dishes. Only 4,000-5,000 bottles of this beauty made."
