Clément and Florian Berthier, who are based in Sainte Gemme en Sancerrois, have vines in four appellations: Coteaux du Giennois, Menetou-Salon, Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre. The Berthier family has lived in the Central Loire for a number of generations. Vignobles Berthiers was started by their father Jean-Marie Berthier in the early 1980s. Clément, who gained experience running a winery in the US, is in charge of winemaking and the commercial side while Florian (with experience in Burgundy and New Zealand) looks after the 25 hectares of vines. The 2019 is racy and vibrant with the lemony character that is typical of Coteaux du Giennois, and will probably take on more weight in bottle.
