The 2016 Brunello di Montalcino is understated and gracious, opening up slowly in the glass, as floral-laced cherry and hints of spiced citrus are complemented by emerging notes of clove and cedar dust. It’s soft and silky in the mouth, impressing with a pure display of strawberries and hints of plum, with salty mineral tones that add a savory flair. Residual acids and fine tannins add youthful tension through the long and floral finale.

A layered red with plums, some dried flowers, dust and earth. Fresh flowers and hints of herbs. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a pretty finish. Bitter and dark chocolate and some dried herbs. Slightly lean finish. Needs time to soften. Drink after 2023.
