Decanter:

"Showy nose but very classy too. Huge, texturally interesting wine with generous oak and impressive tannins on the palate, as well as beautiful fruit, and graphite notes. Restrained, pleasantly sweet finish with herbal tones."

Wine Spectator:

"A complex red, evoking cherry, strawberry, tobacco, tar and underbrush aromas and flavors. Harmonious and detailed, this lingers with an aftertaste of fruit, earth and woodsy notes. Drink now through 2023. 40,000 cases made."

Product Description:

"Riserva Ducale Oro's distinctive Tuscan bouquet offers notes of violet, cherry and plum. This wine has a well-defined structure and a generous, fruity core accented by hints of chocolate and cinnamon. Full bodied and well balanced, Riserva Ducale Oro has round, impressive tannins that lead to a lengthy finish.

Ruby red with garnet hues, the wine expresses a distinctive Tuscan bouquet of violet, cherry, and plum, with aromas of chocolate and spice. Intense aromas of violet, blackberry, cherry, and ripe plum with intriguing notes of cinnamon and clove. Classic elegance and structure in which the fruit, tannins, and spices form a tightly woven balance, with a lingering fi nish of chocolate and coffee.

We only produce this Chianti Classico Gran Selezione in outstanding vintages. When we do make Riserva Ducale Oro, we start by harvesting the grapes by hand, mostly from our Gretole estate in the Chianti Classico appellation. The vineyard lots are vinified individually to preserve their specificity to the land. We age the wine in oak, stainless steel and concrete vats for 36 months, twelve months longer than required by Italian law. The wine then spends additional months in bottle before release." - Winery
