David Schildknecht - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"A 2005 Graacher Himmelreich Riesling Auslese A.P. #9 represents a jump in Oechsle from what went before and is, in Schaefer's and my view, the best Himmelreich Auslese ever bottled here. Sweet florals, fresh apple, mango, nut paste (more familiar from Domprobst) and a hint of red berries leads to a creamy, rich, yet elegant and refined palate, and a finish balancing fresh, briskly tart apple with generous tropical fruits and sweet inner-mouth florality. This could be the poster wine for the vintage with its uncanny combination of richness with delicacy and its subtle, refined integration of noble rot. Surely it is a candidate for 25 or 30 years’ cellaring."
