The Peake Ranch Vineyard sits along the Santa Ynez River, in a small neighborhood of world-class vineyards, receiving gentle cooling breezes through the east-west transverse valley from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard lies across rolling hills providing a diversity of aspects facing North, South, East, and West. The soil is comprised of marine sediment high in calcium. The combination of the varying sun exposures, calcium-based soil, cold nights, and cool daytime breezes give the vineyard a distinct diversity of flavors.
Deep ruby color in the glass, the nose delivers ripe cherry with allspice and vanilla. The palate has layers of dark cherry fruit and expansive viscosity balanced with acidity and a mineral core reflecting the calcium-rich soils of the Sta. Rita Hills. Serve with a broad range of recipes from Filet Mignon to richly flavored chicken or pork-based dishes or moderately spiced Asian dishes.
