"It’s rare to find this kind of complexity in a pinot bianco, layered in muskmelon, pineapple and pine flavors. Gentle and round in the middle, with the cool feel of a waterfall, this is substantial enough to serve with shellfish in a cream sauce." Reviewed 8/13

Winemaker's Tasting Note
"The Pinot Bianco is always a dry, elegant, intense and very fresh wine. Peach and plum blend with notes of lily of the valley and chamomile. Excellent with fish, it also works well with white meats and creamy dishes."
About the Estate
Mario Schiopetto is considered a pioneer in the northeastern region of Friuli. He founded this legendary estate in 1965, producing a range of fresh, crisp white wines that set the bar for high-quality white wine production in Italy and put Friuli on the map as one of the world's great white wine regions. Since Mario's passing in 2003, his 3 children - twin brothers Carlo and Giorgio and sister Maria Angela - have been fully committed to running the family business. The wines today continue to brim with the class, purity and elegance characteristic of this estate, and also display a remarkable ageing ability.
The Pinot Bianco: First bottled in 1970, this 100% Pinot Bianco grows in a hilly zone, perfectly acclimatized to Collio.
The Vineyard
The Friulian limestone-clay marl known as "ponca" is the predominant soil character. The winery has mapped vine-by-vine production cycles as well as carried out detailed soil analyses, and is working with a pruning method unique to the region. Vines are trained in the Guyot and Cordon Spur methods, with yields are around 60Hl/hectare. Harvest is performed manually.
