About

93

"Enticing aromas of woodland berry, menthol, baking spices, tobacco and a balsamic note float from the glass. The savory, classically structured palate delivers wild cherry, crushed strawberry, white pepper, clove and licorice alongside a backbone of firm but refined tannins and bright acidity. Drink 2019–2031."

93 International Wine Report

"The 2011 Dardi Le Rose Barolo is very impressive as it opens with fresh aromas of strawberries and cherries woven together with licorice, mint and dried floral which all come together with wonderful harmony. On the palate this is beautifully structured around fine, polished tannins and demonstrates excellent balance and precision. It remains focused while showing excellent length on the refined finish. Overall a gorgeous Barolo that should continue to show well and evolve for years to come. (Best 2016-2029)"

92 Wine Spectator

"Lean and sinewy, with wild juniper, rosemary and eucalyptus notes offsetting the cherry and floral flavors. Shows grip and balance, leading to a long, resonant finish. Best from 2019 through 2033. 2,500 cases made. -BS"

"A pretty red with hints of almond, spice and stone. Some prune too. Full body, firm tannins and a fresh and clean finish. Tight now. Needs two or three years to soften."

"The 2011 Barolo Bussia Dardi Le Rose is the most accessible of the three vintages I tasted. The heat of the year comes through in the wine's slightly roasted profile. Then again, that is 2011. Black cherry, plum, smoke, leather and licorice add to an impression of a wine that will hit its stride a bit earlier than is usually the case."

Product Description:

"A symphony of flavours bursts out from this "classic" Barolo, complex but balanced, fruity but elegant, with great ageing potential.

The vineyard is located in the hamlet of Dardi, in Bussia Soprana di Monforte, and was the first to be vinified separately by Beppe Colla in 1961 and to be thus identified on the label.

Deep, intense ruby-red in colour, with a rich and refined bouquet, delicately spiced, bringing out floral tones, mingled with red berry fruit and tar. Full-bodied and strongly structured, it stays on the palate with supple tannin sensations, covered with fragrant notes of ripe fruit and liquorice. A traditional, “majestic” Nebbiolo with the might, balance and complexity of a symphony orchestra! Extraordinary ageing capacity.

Despite its strong personality,Barolo can be enjoyed frequently with red meat and ground game, even – why not? – with very rich fish dishes, such as baked turbot, or a dinner featuring speciality cheeses."
