"This elegant Barolo delivers both intensity and complexity thanks to its pure berry aromas and tones of cola, white licorice, tar, wet river stone, dried herb and cedar wood. Power and firm tannins suggest this wine would be best consumed 10 years from now. -ML" (09/12)
Product Description:
WINE:
"When wine makes history. The highest vineyards in the Barolo terroir yield a wine that an authoritative international guide has called 'surprising, soft, feminine, and bright, with touches of violet, ginger and vanilla' - a wine that perfectly reflects this terroir's unique characteristics. Situated at altitudes of between 450 meters (1,476 feet) and 530 meters (1,738 feet) above sea level, Serradenari is exposed to a wide range of temperatures that give its grapes their distinctive identity and color. 'The world's highest Barolo' is vinified in truncated conical wooden vats and aged two years in barrels. It is a true treat for connoisseur palates!" -Winery
WINERY:
"The history of Serradenari goes back to the Middle Ages, to a dark time when farmers gathered their families and money and took refuge on the tallest hill in order to escape the plague. The Negri family has owned Serradenari since 1880. The cellars are surrounded by 5.7 acres of vineyards and 8 acres of ancient woods. This is where Serradenari wines are produced at the rate of 30,000 bottles a year, along with some 5,000 select Giulia Negri bottles. This land is also the cradle of Alba White Truffle and its best known products." -Winery
