Product Description:

Origin
The grapes for this very charming wine are grown in the Kamptal region of Austria. Here, the Grüner Veltliner ripens in granite, gneiss, mica slate as well as loess soils. The northerly cool air streams from the rugged Waldviertel region and results in a significant day and night temperature difference. This in turn slows the ripening process of the grapes, and it is the diurnal effect of warm days and cool nights that makes wines from this region taste so fresh and fruity. The most beautiful kind of "Cool Climate Viticulture."

The Name
LAURENZ V. stands for five generations of the Laurenz Moser wine dynasty. The winemaker Laurenz Maria Moser V. focusses entirely on the grape variety Grüner Veltliner.

Vinification
The 2012 vintage can be described in five simple words: low quantity and high quality. During Winter and at Easter, when the vines had already started to shoot, and into May we experienced an unusually late spate of frost in Kamptal. By contrast, the Summer was extremely dry. These weather conditions resulted in a reduced yield of up to 40 percent. Nevertheless, the 2012 vintage is now regarded as one of a very high quality. Once the grapes were picked by hand, they were brought immediately to the winery in small boxes in order to prevent any possible damages to the grapes. They were then pressed very carefully. Temperature controlled fermentation followed; this was carried out exclusively in steel tanks so that freshness and fruitiness could be retained. Charming 2012 then rested on the fine lees until 2 weeks before bottling which took place in late April 2013. The vintage 2012 offers a high quality and a rich, elegant and fruity wine with a very well balanced zip.

Tasting Notes
Aromas of ripe apples and a typical Veltliner spiciness marry to create a fascinating fruit bouquet. On the palate, the wine is soft and juicy, supported by a fine fruit acidity. Very harmonious, allowing for perfectly smooth drinking. Simply charming!
