Josh Raynolds - Vinous Media
"Vivid ruby. High-pitched red fruit and floral scents are accented by a hint of white pepper. Juicy, focused and lively, offering gently sweet raspberry and rose pastille flavors that deepen with air. Fine-grained tannins shape to the finish, which clings with real tenacity. Quite impressive for a "basic" Châteauneuf; this looks like it will be approachable soon after release." Reviewed April 2015

"A hint of leather peeks out from the core of steeped raspberry and blackberry fruit, while notes of lavender, black tea and warm cherry sauce fill in behind, with a long, polished, deftly toasted finish. Drink now through 2022. 224 cases imported. -JM" Reviewed November 2015

WINERY:
"In the early 20th century, Seraphin Sabon married Marie Jausset, daughter of Romain and Marie-Angelie Brunel. Born in Serignan of Comtat, North of Orange in the Vaucluse, he took on and expanded his wife's family business - which dates back to 1560. Marie has three sons - one of which is Roger who founded the Domaine in 1952 in the Chateauneuf-du-Pape appellation. In 1973, Roger expanded the business for the first of several times, by investing with his sons, Jean-Jacques, Denis & Gilbert."
"Since 2001, vinification is in the care of Didier Negron, son-in-law of Jean Jacques Sabon. Denis and his son Julien take care of the fields. Delphine, daughter of Denis is often in the reception. The wines of the Domaine are the fruit of an intimate dialogue between the winemaker and each portion of the land. Didier and Jean-Jacques maintain the old traditions and alchemy of the wine cellar revealing the secrets and subtle potentialities of the vines. Their winemaking involves a century-old savoir faire that preserves and expresses the different aromatic nuances of each variety of grape." -Importer
