About

Rating:

"The 2012 Terrasse is a blend of 31% Chenin Blanc, 30% Chardonnay, 30% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Viognier that sees 12 months in 225-liter and 500-liter barrels. It has a pleasant bouquet with yellow plum, apricot and lemon curd scents that harken toward the southern Rhone. The palate is well-balanced with a vibrant entry, effervescent orange peel and tangerine notes and a soft creamy finish. This is very harmonious and attests to very astute blending of varieties in the cellar. The bottom line is - delicious. Drink now-2017. " (10/13)

Product Description:

"A polished light yellow, gold colour. Aromas develop from spicy floral notes to hazelnut, lemon grass and rye with butterscotch undertones. The wine has a soft sweet entry with ripe citrus and vanilla flavours evolving into a lovely long, dry, earthy finish. Drink 2013-2020.

The Keermont Terrasse 2012 is a white blend which derives its name from the terraced vineyards from which the grapes are harvested. The backbone of this blend is Chenin Blanc from a 40 year old un-irrigated vineyard called ‘Riverside’ and Sauvignon Blanc produced from a 23 year old un-irrigated vineyard called ‘Uitkyk’. This is complimented by Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Viognier from younger vineyards. 2012 saw one of our main Chenin Blanc blocks, Low Road, severely affected by Powdery Mildew, hence the lower percentage of Chenin in the final blend than usual.

Keermont Vineyards is a farm located in a back valley outside of Stellenbosch, ZA. The name comes from Keerweder, which is the name of the former farm. A keerweder is a dead end in a valley - it literally translates to 'blocked again', as the early settlers were blocked by the terrain when they tried to pass through the valley. The winery and vineyards are located in the shadow of Guardian Peak (official name is Suurberg). The mountain fruit here is similar to the grapes grown at the Howell Mountain AVA in Napa Valley." - Importer
