Product Description:
"Domaine Lamy-Pillot was established in 1973 by Rene Lamy. The family have been winegrowers here since the middle of the 17th Century. They own 15 hectares of vines, with a wide selection of Chassagne, both whites and reds as well as some most agreeable St Aubin. They also have a very tiny amount of the great Le Montrachet Grand Cru
All of the Domaine’s wines are built for medium term maturing. Their whites are lovely while young but really need a few years of bottle age to show at their best. The red wines have considerable structure and even at the "village" Appellation level they are difficult drinking in their youth and really must be allowed 3 to 5 years to soften out. For those who are patient, however, these are lovely wines.
St. Aubin Pucelles 2014
The St. Aubin Pucelles has particularly caught my attention on each occasion I have drunk it. It has a good "rapport and an incredible qualite/prix ratio". The vineyard site, while away from the main St. Aubin 1er cru vineyards, is a magnificent location. Pucelles is at 300 meters in elevation in a cool area of the Village, but with a Southern exposure that gets a significant amount of sun during the day. The vineyard is also striking to see, as from a distance, it looks as if there is snow on the ground, but indeed it is the chalky soil it sits on. All this, creates the perfect locale and a wine that is balanced, with nice acidity from the coolness and elevation, amazing ripeness with hints of citrus characters from the basking sun, and beautiful minerality from the chalky soils. This wine, while only Village level, stands up to most premier crus in the Village." -Importer
