"Coming from the eastern edge of Bien Nacido and vines planted in 1973, the 2012 Chardonnay Bien Nacido is one of the top Chardonnays in the vintage. Loaded with mineral-laced stone fruits, salt water and white flowers, it has incredible purity, building richness and a crystalline-like quality that keeps you coming back to the glass. It’s a gorgeous effort that will drink nicely for 4-5 years, possibly longer, although I see no reason to hold off. Justin Willett continues to knock it out of the park with these new releases, and few people in the Central Coast are doing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay better than this guy. These all lean toward the more focused, energetic end of the spectrum, yet they have solid mid-palate depth, vibrant fruit and classy profiles that keep you coming back to the glass."
