John Gilman - View from the Cellar
"The Beaune “Greves” Blanc is from a section of vines right up at the very top of
the slope where a band of hard limestone streaks across the vineyard. This is really great white wine soil, and if there is ever to be a white wine from Beaune to compete with the Drouhins’ Clos des Mouches Blanc, my gut instinct is that it will emerge from this section of Beaune “Greves”. The 2009 from Maison Jadot is stunning, as it offers up a simply beautiful nose of white peaches, apples, orange zest, really lovely minerality, spring flowers, vanillin oak and a touch of beeswax in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and racy, with superb focus, vibrant acids, excellent mid- palate depth and a very long, complex and classy finish. This is one 2009 white Burgundy that will demand a few years of cellaring before it really blossoms. 2014-2035."

"Here too there is discreet wood framing primarily white flower and lemon-based aromas that also evidence a pretty hint of minerality. There is good precision to the rich, supple and delicious middle weight flavors that culminate in a citrusy finish that delivers real punch."
