Allen Meadows - Burghound
"Here the aromatic profile is a classic Savigny blanc with its earthy, frank and slightly exotic nose of melon, citrus and mango where the latter is reflected on the largely fruit-driven flavors that are rich, round, supple and easy though a subtle touch of finishing minerality confers a sense of lift to the backend." 88 Stephen Tanzer - Vinous Media
" Nose dominated by stone, smoke and menthol, with topnotes of dried herbs and fern. Suave on entry, then fine-grained in the middle, with subtle flavors of citrus peel, mirabelle and wildflowers. Finishes quite dry and persistent, with very good lift." (10/08)
87-88 David Schildknecht - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"From Chardonnay vines in a stony site, the Jadot 2006 Savigny-les-Beaune Clos des Guettes mingles flowers, herbs and vanilla in the nose and displays a subtle creaminess and more polish than its village counterpart, but today at least, a less distinctive set of flavors and slightly less grip. Still, I suspect this needs a couple of years in bottle to really show its meddle." (12/08)
"Full bodied and rather sleek and positive. Still chewy like the Vergelesses but with a bit more personality. Mouth filing and confident, though it could do with very slightly more substance and length. Drink 2009 to 2013. (JR)" (02/08) 16.5 out of 20 points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages
WINE:
"The commune of Savigny-les-Beaune is in the north of the Cote de Beaune and produces 90% red wines. Les Guettes is located in the middle of the commune on gravely, stony chalk soil. It faces south–southeast at 220 meters to 360 meters in altitude. The wine is matured for 12 to 15 months in oak barrels before bottling." -Importer
"Nicely balanced between acidity and rich body, Les Guettes has aromas and flavors of apples, white flowers and spices, and will develop in the bottle for 8 to 12 years. It will pair well with white meat, terrines and light cheeses." -Importer
