"Oak-derived scents of graham crackers, cinnamon and brown sugar dominate the nose of the 2016 Clementine Woodlands Brook Vineyard, a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Malbec (16%), Merlot (15%) and Petit Verdot (14%). Medium to full-bodied, it's suave, smooth and supple, with a long, velvety finish."
Woodlands winery is a leader when it comes to making premium wine in the Margaret River.
Some say they have the best vineyards within the region and some of the best vineyards in Australia. Family run since 1973, starting with David and Heather Watson, and now slowly being taken over by their sons. Everything from growing the grapes to producing the wine is kept within the family. Even with almost 50 years of experience, they are only producing 9,000 cases a year over a bunch of different wines, including single vineyards like this one.
Australia is most known for making big fruit forward red wines and this one is no exception. This sloped vineyard is exposed to a ton of sunlight which is why the wines have so many fruit aromas. The clay soil definitely has an effect on the wine as there is a little bit of earth on the back end.
This has an extremely long and satisfying finish. You will want to drink this with a full meal, as it is a very full bodied wine.
