Neal Martin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2015 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron was picked between 18 September and 9 October, a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, 60% aged in new oak and the remainder one-year-old. It represents 22% of the total crop, essentially a second deuxième vin, a terroir-based separation since this comes from more gravel soils. It has an understated bouquet, perhaps more so than the 2015 Les Tourelles that contains more Merlot. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, heightened graphite notes with a focused, almost brittle, but quite compelling finish, pencil shavings scattered over the aftertaste."

"The 2015 Les Griffons de Pichon Baron wraps around the palate with striking persistence and creaminess. Dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice, new leather and licorice are all pushed forward. Succulent, open-knit and inviting, the Griffons captures the essence of the year in spades. Despite its forward personality, there is plenty of tannin and structure lurking beneath. This is a strong showing from the Griffons, the second wine of Pichon Baron."

"Chewy tannins underline the high percentage of cabernet sauvignon in this wine. Full and savory. Walnut and mineral undertones."
"Les Griffons de Pichon Baron has a pure, direct character. The blend’s grapes come primarily from gravelly plots of land near the Gironde estuary, a beneficial environment for Cabernet Sauvignon. Les Griffons offers a vigorous, fresh tasting experience. It is full-bodied and bursting with energy. It can be cellared for over 20 years, or enjoyed right away." -Winery
