"The Hayne Vineyard is situated in St. Helena at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains and is well known for its single-vineyard wines from the site. The vines are moderate in size due to the gravelly, loam soils and the vineyard produces small yields. The warm St. Helena temperatures are ideal for producing sweet, jammy fruit and this vineyard tends to be picked at the beginning of harvest each year. Nickel & Nickel produces wine from nine acres.

The 2014 vintage is best described as rich and elegant. Similar to 2012, the growing season was ideal for producing a high-quality vintage. Beautiful weather throughout the season meant that fruit matured slowly over the summer. Warm days and cool, foggy nights allowed for a smooth ripening period, which is essential for juicy, intense fruit flavors. We took advantage of night harvesting and optical sorting to ensure that only the best fruit went into the fermenters." -Winery
