"Having spent only 12 months in barrel, this vintage of the producer’s Claret is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon with 34% Merlot, 4% Malbec, 3% Syrah, 2% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. It opens in exotic floral and spice, with a juicy midpalate around soft, rounded tannins and smoothly integrated oak. It provides extraordinary value for the quality." Reviewed 7/1/2015
"Our Cabernet Sauvignon follows the Bordelaise model of terroir driven wines blending different Bordeaux varietals. Malolactic fermentation is completed in barrel, and the wines are assembled early so they are “elevated” as the finished wine. The Claret aged for 12 months in 12% new oak (French and American) on fine lees to coat the tannins and smoothly integrate the wood. This wine was lightly fined with egg whites and bottled without filtration. This soft, easy-drinking Cabernet is a good introduction to the vintage, and while it will improve over the course of three to eight years, it is not a wine intended for long-term cellaring." -Winery
