"Duckhorn’s top selection from six estate vineyards, this includes cabernet sauvignon (62 percent), merlot (29 percent), cabernet franc and petit verdot, the blend aged in French oak barrels (95 percent new). It’s a pure evocation of Napa Valley fruit in a vintage that, for many, was challenged by rot. Rather than showing any rot, this wine has a cool woodland feel, its texture silken, its flavors hovering between black cherry and black olive. This may not be a wine for long-term aging, but it is compelling and delicious to drink now and over the next several years, with duck or lamb."

"Made from a majority of Cabernet Sauvignon with a sizable addition of Merlot and smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, The Discussion is lovely in spicy black pepper and clove, full bodied and softly integrated in terms of tannin and oak. A brightness of red fruit shines through, along with a distinct taste of fig."
"Complex and compelling, this beautiful wine reveals savory aromatics of sage and bay leaf, combined with layers of intense cranberry, Bing cherry, sassafras and cedar. On the palate, velvety tannins set the framework for an elegantly structured and beautifully balanced wine, with layers of red fruit, Mission figs and minerality, as well as hints of cedar, white pepper and pipe tobacco that linger of the finish.
Over three decades ago, before crafting their first vintage, the Duckhorn’s and their winemaker had a passionate discussion at the kitchen table. Though they debated making a cuvée, they chose to focus on varietal wines. Even so, Duckhorn Vineyards has always remained fascinated by the artful blend of varietals from diverse Napa Valley vineyards. Embodying the depth and complexity of a world-class Estate program, The Discussion represents the pinnacle of the Duckhorn Vineyards portfolio and the ongoing dialogue that defines great winemaking." - Winery
