"The 2008 Sideral is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Carmenere, with the balance Syrah and Cabernet Franc aged in French oak, 20% new, for 12-15 months. Enticing aromas of cedar, tobacco, violets, dried herbs, and assorted black fruits lead to a Bordeaux-like, elegant, impeccably balanced wine. It has the structure, concentration, and length to evolve for at least 3-4 years and will provide peak drinking from 2015 to 2023."

"Vina Altair's grapes are sourced from a single 178 acre estate vineyard in Alto Cachapoal located 100 km south of Santiago in the foothills of the Andes."

"Opaque ruby. A complex bouquet evokes red- and blackcurrant, dried rose, vanilla and woodsmoke. Sweet, velvety and open-knit, offering lively red fruit flavors that gain power with air. Fine-grained tannins add shape to the long, spicy, focused finish. This wine should drink well soon after release." (05/12)

Product Description:

WINERY:
"In 2001, the San Pedro Wine Group began a grand project to create a winery specializing exclusively in the production of high quality, terroir driven, boutique wines - the best that Chile has to offer. From this effort, two great wines were born, Altair and Sideral. One of the main objectives of the winery is to consistently achieve a complete synergy between the unique characteristics of the terroir and the skills of the winemaking team, lead by resident winemaker Ana Maria Cumsille and renowned winemaker-consultant Pascal Chatonnet, using the most advanced technology in producing these wines."

"The Altair terroir, situated 650 - 850 m.a.s.l., has a wide diversity of soils. It is a puzzle of clayey, sandy, stony soils with different expositions and gradients. Mediterranean conditions are present in the valley located at the foothill of the Andes mountain chain. Cold breeze blows at noon and refreshes our vineyards site. This phenomenon allows the fruit to hang on the vine and reach optimal ripeness. This creates a natural temperature oscillation which heightens flavors and aromas, and lends a natural acidity rarely apparent in new world wines. The 100% of the vineyard labors are carefully hand made." -Winery
