The five years of aging has given this wood-matured wine authority and richness. It is totally ready to drink with its generous tannins, spice and juicy acidity. It is an impressive wine.

92 Mark Squires - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2014 Reserva is mostly a 35/30 blend of Aragonez and Syrah, with 15% each of Alicante Bouschet and Touriga Nacional, plus a dollop of Touriga Franca for the rest. It was aged for 14 months in new and mostly French barriques and comes in at 14% alcohol. The winery said the grapes were picked before the rain and were ready—those that weren't were then discarded, like the Petit Verdot. Particularly for this tricky vintage, this shows fine concentration. The mid-palate counters the structure, while the tannins are rather ripe. The finish is long and filled with flavor. The balance is impeccable, and the wine is admirably fresh. I don't think this is the greatest-ever Reserva from the winery, but it's a feather in the hat to be this good in 2014.

Product Description:

"A selection of the best parcels in the best years, our Reserva is only produced in our best vintages. A blend of Aragonez, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, Petit Verdot and Alicante Bouschet grown sustainably on the ancient clay over limestone soils in own vineyards surrounding our estate in Vidigueira. Each parcel was harvested separately according to ripeness. The fruit was destemmed and gently crushed, following fermentation under temperature control for 2 weeks in stainless steel tanks, with gentle punchdowns, pumpovers and delestage. Each parcel matured separately in french oak (90%) and american oak (10%) for 14 months. After which a selection of the best barrels were blended and the wine was bottled at the estate in April 2016."- Winery
