Robert Parker - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:

Rated, but no tasting note given.

"Although these wines are normally reviewed by my colleagues David Schildknect in his Languedoc-Roussillon and Alsace reports and Lisa Perrotti-Brown in her reviews of Australian wines, I tasted them during my visit with Chapoutier, so I will include them in this report as they are of high quality and merit attention. I will just list the wines, my score, and the region from which they emerge." (12/12)

-----------

Winery Tasting Notes: "Brilliant, dark ruby colour. Deep with black fruits and pepper aromas. Supple and complex with silky and elegant tannins."

Product Description:

"Good fragrant pepper, perhaps a touch of flinty reduction. Meaty, complex finish. Very immediate and appealing. Drink from 2013 to 2016. (RH)" (07/13) - 16.5 out of 20 Points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages.

Producer:
"Michel Chapoutier, owner and winemaker of M. Chapoutier, one of the Rhone Valley's most esteemed estates, founded Tournon in 2007. The 123 acre estate is located in the Victorian Pyrenees and Heathcote region of Australia. The Shays Flat Vineyard, situated on an east facing ridge in the southern Pyrenees foothills, is planted on schist and quartz soils and Lady’s Lane is planted on gentle slopes of well draining deep red Cambrian soils. The estate vineyards are farmed using biodynamics and the Shiraz is hand-picked and destemmed prior to fermentation. The cool weather allows Michel to craft distinctive Shiraz. Michel named Tournon after its famous cousin in Hermitage, France. As in France and now in Australia, Michel is producing wines of elegance and balance." - Importer
