"Tightly wound, with firm, dry tannins wrapped around rich dark berry, spice, pepper and tobacco leaf, ending with a tight focus on the pepper and dried berry. Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2020. 744 cases made. -JL" (02/13)

"This is a big, mountain-grown blend that needs time to open - think about decanting it first. A mix of 50% Syrah, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc, this has a fruity, delicious nose that's slightly peppery. The palate is surrounded by red and blue fruit and tanker-size tannins, with a plush, cinnamon-kissed finish. -V.B." (11/12)

Product Description:

Wine:
"Aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and spice with subtle herb notes. The flavors are concentrated and rich with a fleshy mid palate and firms tannins on the finish. The grapes were harvested between September 9th and September 18th, 2009 between 26 and 29 Brix. The wine was fermented using cultured yeast. It was aged in 60% new French Oak for 20 months. Sterile filtered, not fined. 100% Estate from the Casey Flat Ranch, Capay Valley." - Winery

Vineyard:
"The Casey Flat Ranch vineyards sit at a 2000-foot elevation in the rugged western mountains overlooking the Capay Valley. The 24-acre vineyard originally planted in 2004 sits on a gentle slope and holds a combination of Sauvignon Blanc, Bordeaux varieties and Rhone varieties. The vineyard is sustainably cultivated, using materials and farming techniques that emphasize water and soil conservation. Climate conditions at the vineyard site are parallel in almost every respect to the Oakville / Rutherford appellations of the Napa Valley, with average daily daytime temperatures cooler than St. Helena, located 22 miles to the west." - Winery

Vintage:
"The 2009 vintage at Casey Flat Ranch was outstanding. The summer was warm and steady, allowing both white and red varieties to be picked at optimal ripeness. The heavy, mid October rain was no threat to us; all of the CFR fruit was safely in the winery, quietly fermenting in tank." - Winery
