John Gilman - View from the Cellar
"I love the superb minerality that Alexandre Moreau gets in his example of Morgeot year in and year out, and the 2011 is no exception. The outstanding nose wafts from the glass in a very elegant mélange of apple, lemon, lime, lovely minerality, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and far more reserved and primary in profile than the Chenevottes or Vergers, with a rock solid core, crisp acids and exceptional grip and focus on the very long and soil-driven finish. Structurally, this behaves far more like a 2007 or 2010 white Burgundy! A glorious young example of Morgeot. 2016-2035+."

"Moreau's 2011 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeot is a bit foursquare, as wines from this site often are. Still the 2011 boasts plenty of palate presence and serious depth. The intensity of the fruit gives the illusion of early approachability, but the Morgeot is a wine that typically blossoms after a few years in bottle, and I expect that will be the case here as well. Hints of almonds, spices and mint add complexity to the resonant fruit on the deep, satisfying finish."
