About

Rating:

94

"The barrel sample of the 2010 Goldgrube Kabinett on display at Prowein is absolutely stunning. The fantastic bouquet soars from the glass in a complex melange of apple, sweet grapefruit, wild yeasts, a lovely base of slate, a touch of petrol and a vibrant topnote of orange zest. On the palate the wine is deep, very pure and medium-full, with great focus and complexity, perfect balance, beautifully integrated acids and stunning length and grip on the dancing finish. A beautiful bottle of Kabinett in the making. 2013-2035+."

Product Description:

"This is a force of nature, one of those Kabinetts that punches well above its weight. Despite the 70 grams of residual sugar, the wine is stony, rigorous and fresh. Let us all thank the 12 grams of acidity for that. If you’re not a 'numbers person,' what these digits spell out is the following: tension. This is one of those Kabinetts with 100,000 volts of electricity pulsing through its slatey veins. The palate is compact and saturating, a full force gale of green fruit and citrus that slides seamlessly into slate and a tart, ripe, polished acidity that leaves you salivating and wanting more. Says the ever-balanced Lars Carlberg: 'It's one of the best Riesling Kabinetts from the vintage.'"
