"Close in quality and another riveting example of the great sweet spot of the 2008 vintage in northern California (Napa Bordeaux varietals), the seamless 2008 Sloan reveals an opaque purple color along with similar notes of burning embers/charcoal/scorched earth (reminiscent of a ripe, powerful vintage in Bordeaux’s Pessac-Leognan), full body, beautiful density and stunning texture and length. Another prodigious Cabernet Sauvignon-based cuvee, it should age effortlessly for 25-30 years. It may even be riper and more precocious than the 2007."

"I am loving the structure to this wine. Exotic fruit with flowers, and lots going on. The tannins are very velvety, and have a super refined texture and a long, long finish. A fascinating wine."

"The 2008 Sloan Estate is racy and totally elegant from start to finish. It shows gorgeous freshness and vibrancy in its expressive dark red fruit, flowers, licorice and tobacco. Today the 2008 comes across as a relatively understated, subdued vintage for this wine. It should be absolutely fabulous in another few years. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2028."
