David Schildknecht - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"A high-toned maraschino and pistachio extract aroma, along with spirituous intimations of black fruits mark the nose of Martelet's 2008 Blagny La Genelotte, which I tasted from barrel. Penetrating and bright, with cherry, blackberry and tart rhubarb, this displays lovely levity and invigoration as well as transparency to saline, iodine-like, and chalky nuances. For all of its friskiness and refreshment, it evinces a polished and subtly soothing texture. Given the proclivity (even in the memorably delicious 2005) for this Pinot to exhibit white wine tendencies, I'm almost surprised such proclivities aren't even more evident in 2008! Based on the evolution of several previous vintages, I would estimate - and this fits Martelet's own experience – that this will be best served over the next 4-6 years."
