"The outstanding 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape La Tour du Lion (75% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 5% Mourvedre and Cinsault from 50+-year-old vines) reveals some oak, but that component is nicely masked by the wine’s deep black currant, black cherry, licorice, smoke, and roasted herb characteristics. This beautifully dense, pure, exuberant 2007 displays an impressive integration of acidity, tannin, and alcohol. It should drink nicely for 12-15 years."
"Another young woman, Marielle Fabre, is in charge of Tour Saint-Michel, a 90-acre estate that has recently burst on the scene after winning some big prizes at the annual festival hosted by the vignerons called the Festival of Saint-Marc. These modern-styled Chateauneuf du Pape are aged in foudres as well as small barrels, the latter being used for the Feminessance and La Tour du Lion." -92 points Robert Parker
"Saturated ruby. Exotic, expansive bouquet of black raspberry and cherry liqueur, potpourri and spicecake. Lush and creamy in texture, offering sweet red fruit flavors that gain power with air and take a turn to boysenberry on the back. Seamless, alluring and on the jammy side, finishing with very good punch and lingering sweetness. This could be drunk without guilt now. While the 2007 Feminessance is packed with sweet raspberry fruit, it's also extremely ripe, with too much roasted character for me. Fans of superripe Chateauneuf might go for it, though." -90 Points - Josh Raynolds - International Wine Cellar
WINERY:
"The Domaine Tour Saint Michel has been a family estate for 3 generations.
At first, Michel FABRE, the founder of the estate in 1930, passed on his passion to his son, Henri. Together with his wife Eliane, he developed and extended the estate. Today, the vines cover 40 hectares, including 35 hectares in the appellation Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Mireille, their daughter, is now in charge of the estate, inspired by the family tradition but also bringing a more modern approach. The estate is located in Chateauneuf-du-Pape,in the south of the appellation (Grand Coulet, Les Serres)." -Winery
"Tour Saint-Michel has 35ha of red and 1.3ha of white grapes varieties within the appellation. The vineyards are located in the south (Les Galimardes and Les Serres) in immediate vicinity of the estate. The soil consists mainly clay with gravel subsoil, and is covered with large stones. The red vines are an average of 40 years old and about 80% is planted with Grenache. Cuvee la Tour de Lion, made since 2003, consists of 75% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and 5% mix of Mourvedre and Cinsault." -Harry Karis, the Chateauneuf du Pape Book
