"The Merkelbachs' 2008 Urziger Wurzgarten Riesling Kabinett A.P. #23 displays both the strawberry fruit and saline savor I most associate with its site, with a subtle hint of creaminess offering lovely counterpoint to the wine’s juicy refreshment and with succulent suggestions of Persian melon and alluring, wafting honeysuckle and freesia florality throughout. This reminds me of the lovely Merkelbach 1986 Wurzgarten Kabinetts and Spatlese that were even more delightful at ten years of age, by which time I had unfortunately run out. Don’t make that mistake with this 2008!"
