Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
"The 2005 Malleolus de Valderramiro is a dense opaque purple color. It has a roasted character along with Asian spices, incense, and a cocktail of black fruits. Powerful on the palate, this is a packed effort with loads of fruit and tannin that will require a minimum of 8-10 years to become approachable."
"Emilio Moro's Malleolus de Valderramiro is sourced from an 85-year-old Tempranillo vineyard of the same name. Alcoholic fermentation is done with native yeasts after which the wine goes through malolactic in American oak. It is then aged for 18 months in new French oak." (06/10)

"Glass-staining ruby. High-pitched red and dark berry aromas are brightened by exotic Asian spices and minerals. Powerful raspberry and blackberry flavors are sweetened by coconut, vanilla and mocha but there's a buffering bitter licorice quality. Supple tannins build on the long, pliant finish, which leaves a cherry-cola flavor behind. Very sexy wine." (10/07)

"Ripe blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors are syrupy and almost jammy, but retain enough acidity for balance in this plush, modern red. The big tannins are ripe and well-integrated, and spicy, mocha-tinged oak frames the fruit. Drink now through 2016. 100 cases made. -TM" (11/07)

"The clay soils of this historic Emilio Moro pago grow broad, ripe and expansive wines, full of lush ripeness. In this latest release, the aromas and flavors of chocolate and fig battle for prominence. Its sweetness would go well with game." (10/08)
