About

Product Description:

"This unique estate was created in 1997 by Adolfo Munoz, one of Spain's most celbrated chef's whose main restaurant is located in Toledo. Composed of just 4 hectares under vine, Cigarral Santa Maria is located in one of only four urban vineyards in the world (the vines are actually in the city!) The estate is also unique in that it is centered around Syrah, a varietal that is usually only a component of the final blend in Spain. Aldolfo Munoz only wanted to create a few bottles of Syrah for his family when he first started this project. However, it became very clear that the Syrah he was making was not ordinary. Soon, he was up to 2,000 bottles, all of which was destined for his restaurant as well as a few others, including the Michelin 3-starred Arzak and El Bulli. Production has grown incrementally, but his idea is not to have a huge winery but to concentrate on his few hectares within the city limits of Toledo and refine his Syrah into one of the finest in the world. VARIETALS: 100% Syrah VINIFICATION: 4 day maceration, fermentation in tank ELEVAGE: 12 months in new French oak barrels NOTES: One of Spain's greatest pure Syrah bottlings."
