Barbaresco is among Italy’s great reds, an elegant expression of Nebbiolo, the queenly counterpart to Barolo as king. Usually you’re looking at $40 or more per bottle, putting Barbaresco out of reach for large gift orders and everyday enjoyment.

Today however, this premiere Italian red is back in the game for corporate gifts, family gatherings and quiet dinners at home. Heck, it even becomes an option for grilled cheese night. (See point #3)

2012 Barbaresco La Casa In Collina Docg Vite Colte By TerredavinoPoint 1 - This wine earned an incredible 90 point score and an amazing review.

Wine Enthusiast’s Italian editor Kerin O’Keefe knows a thing or two about Piedmontese reds. She wrote the book on it. Literally. It’s called Barolo and Barbaresco: The King and Queen of Italian Wine. Today’s special offer surely deserves a crown. The La Casa In Collina Barbaresco 2012 is Nebbiolo all done up - elegant, lithe, and showing the feminine side of a variety that can range from brawny and masculine to this silkier style.

O’Keefe raved over this wine in her 90-point review:
"Dark berry, grilled herb and underbrush aromas float out of the glass along with a whiff of rose. The firm palate offers juicy dark cherry, raspberry, clove, anise and tobacco framed in velvety tannins."

O’Keefe also describes the 2012 Barbarescos overall as being “well-balanced wines with juicy fruit and refined tannins” in her September Wine Enthusiast article “The Beauty of Barbaresco.” A fitting title. (Please note, this wine, reviewed in 2015, was not included in O’Keefe’s 2016 piece.) The 2012 vintage, as a whole, earned 93 points from the Wine Enthusiast.

Comparing our notes to O’Keefe’s, we pick up on red berries, slightly tart on the palate and turning sweeter on the long finish. Her notes of tobacco border on our sweet leather. We enjoy floral notes on the nose - roses are characteristic aromatics of nebbiolo - in addition to dark berry and savory aromas noted by O’Keefe. The tannins, as she notes, are indeed “velvety,” smooth enough to enjoy now, and leaving a fine dustiness that would work well with the fats and proteins in your main course.

Made in a softer style, this Barbaresco is enjoyable this holiday season, a beautiful bottle for family gatherings and for gifts. It will impress everyone from the traditional Barbaresco lover to the Oregon Pinot Noir lover.

Hands down, this wine is a head-turning beauty.

Point 2 - You save 50% off the original list price and earn free shipping on full case orders.

Which is awesome if, like many of us, you see your list of recipients growing the farther we get into holiday season

With each day that goes by, it may seem like you need to add another person… or two… or five to your list for holiday gifts. It’s exhausting, and many of you may not have even hit the malls yet! There is no need to go crazy. A case of wine, with gift tags (or recipes for recommended pairings) tied around the bottles’ necks, sans any additional gift wrap, is the perfect solution to the holiday hustle and bustle.

When an awesome deal like this comes along at a time like now, you can breathe a sigh of relief. Buy a case (or more) in a few clicks or give us a quick phone call. Start designing your bottle tags. Holiday shopping accomplished.

Point 3 - You can enjoy this bottle with so many different and delicious foods… or hold it in your cellar.

White truffles… fontina d’aosta… so many delicious ways to play this pairing.

Barbaresco, particularly selections in this lively, graceful style, is versatile on the table. We can see this bottle served alongside pasta with white truffles, also from the Piedmont region of Italy. As O’Keefe points out in the article referenced above, pairing doesn’t end with regionally complimentary dishes! She plays around with pairing Barbaresco and pasta dressed in tomato sauce, more commonly found in central and southern Italian cuisines. We would love to try this wine with a grilled cheese of fontina d’aosta, a fried egg and white truffle salt, with a side of fried potatoes dusted with more of that truffle salt. Talk about making your kid food more mature.

Those mouthwatering pairing ideas aside, the La Casa In Collina Barbaresco, with bright acidity and velvety tannins, is enjoyable now. You don’t have to worry about whether your recipients have a cellar or not - or whether you have one yourself. You deserve a gift, too.

Point 4 - RELAX! Your gift shopping is almost done.

At this sale price, you can’t afford to not buy a bottle for yourself, too.

With a few quick clicks and free shipping coupon code COLLINA, your case of wine will be on its way to you or packed and waiting for pick up at our store. Take a deep breath. Buy some white truffles with your holiday shopping savings. Enjoy the season. With this wine in glass, there is no way you couldn’t have a great holiday.
