The nose is floral almost like a ladies perfume. I got the image of laundry drying on a line in a field of lavender when I inhaled deeply. The flavor was robust but balanced with wonderful honey notes. Unfortunately, the distillery has changed hands since this bottling, so who’s to say what the future will hold for Tomintoul. Light honey hue. Lovely, understated opening bouquet highlights the freshness of the malt in a gently sweet, almost honeyed way; aeration deepens the honey aspect and adds nuances of pine needle and sugar biscuits. Palate entry is honey sweet and amiable, then at midpalate the taste profile accelerates into a semi-rich honey, maple-like flavor that’s approachable and easy.
