"The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Elisabeth Chambellan Vieilles Vignes is broader and more expansive with an almost addictive personality due to its charming, ripe kirsch and black currant fruit intertwined with notions of spice box, roasted herbs and forest floor. It is a full-bodied, supple, velvety-textured Chateauneuf du Pape that, like its sibling, begs to be consumed in its first 6-8 years of life."

"This ancient Chateauneuf du Pape estate owned by the charismatic mayor, Jean-Pierre Boisson, dates back to the late 1700s. The style of Pere Caboche's wines is one of unbridled fruit, forward, seductive personalities, and limited ageability. Nothing has changed since Boisson's daughter, Emily, took over the winemaking. (There must be at least three dozen women in positions of considerable power and influence in Chateauneuf du Pape.) The 2010s are slightly more concentrated and intense." (10/12)

"Deep ruby. Precise cherry and blackcurrant aromas are complicated by notes of anise and dried flowers. Supple, chewy dark fruit flavors are braced by a dusty mineral nuance, with good acid lift and cut on the back half. Finishes with very good persistence, chewy tannins and a jolt of bitter cherry pit." (02/13)

Product Description:

"From 80- to 100-year-old vines on Le Crau plateau and still in six- and seven-year-old 50-hl foudres.. Deep crimson. Extra savour on the nose compared with the regular bottling. Firm, dense but with lovely elegance. Very promising. Drink from 2017 to 2027. -JR" (12/11) - 17.5+ out of 20 Points, Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages.

Wine:
"The dress is of a red ruby with beautiful bluish reections. The nose requires a little of aeration before delivering its delicious notes of red and fresh berries (raspberry, blackberry and cherry), as well as soft spicy notes. The mouth is of a nice elegance. The discreet rst slice gives up gradually place to a beautiful volume, generous and rich. Tannins are veryne and thoroughbred. We nd notes of jam, increased by notes of fruits brandy. We note a persistant nale with some liquorice and also a spicy mouth. A great elegant wine." - Winery

Winemaking:
"Vintage by hand, picked when fully mature and also sorted by hand, light crushing and destemming, permanent temperature control during fermentation, traditional maceration (about one month), ageing in big oak barrels during 18 months." - Winery
